About

Our first meeting was on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2020, which was sparked from being approached at the skatepark by someone weighed down with difficult life questions and sincerely wanting to know more about Jesus. How do we deal with life with God and with one another? How can his principles be applied to our everyday lives? Our invitation is simple: Let’s start by sitting down to study God’s ways, and then have some honest dialogue about how these spiritual realities impact our lives.

“I gave my life to Jesus about a year ago at Skate Church, but then I didn’t know where to go from there. Through these Mess Halls, Richard got me in touch with Joe, and Joe helped me get started reading the Bible. It's literally the coolest thing ever! I just love it so much!”

— Laura McCallum, Vancouver, Washington

Our sole intention and purpose with Mess Halls coincide with the words of the Apostle Peter, who states, “Here’s my concern: that you care for God’s flock with all the diligence of a shepherd. Not because you have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously. Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way” (1 Peter 5:1-3 MSG).

“I grew up in a Christian home but always found it difficult to relate to other believers as a skateboarder. I’m glad I crossed paths with everyone at Mess Halls and am growing in grace through fellowship that knows no geographic boundaries.”

— Zeke Lim | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The leaders and participants of Mess Halls reside in various cities across the United States, and in various countries throughout the world. The Church is people—the body of Christ. It’s not a building or organization; it’s a living organism. The Church gathers in a variety of ways to spur each other on to love and good deeds. Mess Halls is one of many such gatherings. Regardless of where you are in your faith journey, there is a place for you at the table. Come, #messwithus.

Mess Halls is a ministry of All City Church, which is based in Portland, Oregon.
